PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sophomore on the Plymouth State College field hockey team has been selected Little East Conference Player of the Week after scoring a goal in both Panther games last week.
Sophomore forward Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, Maine) earned the LEC’s top weekly honor while PSC was splitting its two games. The Panthers dropped a 4-1 decision at Bates on Wednesday and returned home to defeat UMass Dartmouth 3-1 Saturday in the last home game of the season.
Jackson notched her fourth goal of the season in the Bates games, and added her fifth in the conference victory over UMD. She now has five goals and two assists, ranking second on the team and 11th in the conference in scoring.
The triumph over UMD was key for PSC, clinching third place in the LEC regular season standings and avoiding a play-in game. The Panthers earned the third seed in this weekend’s conference tournament, and will face second-seeded Southern Maine in one semi-final Saturday (Oct. 30) at top-seeded Keene State (6:00 p.m.). The LEC title game is Sunday (Oct. 31) at Keene.
Plymouth State, 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the LEC under second year head coach Abby Burbank, wraps up the regular season Tuesday (Oct. 26) with a non-conference game at Middlebury (3 p.m.).
