PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered a team-high 21 kills, 13 digs and five blocks Tuesday evening to lead the Plymouth State University women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Endicott College at Foley Gymnasium.
The teams split the first two games, PSU taking the opener 32-30 and Endicott coming back to win the second game, 30-26. The Panthers led the pivotal third game 19-9, but Endicott stormed back to tie things up at 25-25. PSU pulled out the win in the third game, 30-27, and put the match away with a 30-16 verdict in game four.
Ciulla also added a team-high three service aces to her credit. Senior Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) added 12 kills and eight digs, while sophomore Kirsten Willoughby (Plymouth, N.H.) and senior Stacy Therrien (Rochester, N.H.) chipped in with seven and six kills, respectively. Senior setter Amanda Bagwell (Riverside, R.I.) finished with 47 assists.
Senior Killeen Ross (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) led the visitors with 14 kills, while sophomore Beth Dow (Pocasset, Mass.) added eight kills. Sophomore setter Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, Cal.) had a strong all-around match with 35 assists, eight service aces and 13 digs. Senior Patty Mikan (Shelton, Conn.) led the Power Gulls defense with 20 digs.
PSU, 10-3 overall, gets back into action this weekend at the Bridgewater State Tournament. Endicott, 7-4, is also in tournament action this weekend at the MIT Invitational.
