PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior Carrie Poulin (Westfield, Mass.) and freshman Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, NY) scored two goals each Wednesday evening, leading
the Plymouth State College women’s soccer team to a 5-1 non-conference victory over Bridgewater State College under the lights at Panther Field.
The victory improved PSC’s record to 2-0-0 overall, while the Bears are now 0-1-0.
Freshman Katie Van Tassel (Natick, Mass.) added a goal and two assists to the Panther cause. Van Tassel, Poulin and Sheridan all scored in the first 17 minutes
of the game as PSC took a 3-0 lead. Poulin added her second of the game and third of the season at the 29-minute mark to make it 4-0, and Sheridan connected on her
second of the game with 13:30 remaining in the second half.
Bridgewater State freshman Kimberly Rhodes (Marshfield, Mass.) broke the shutout when she connected on her first goal with just 1:43 on the clock.
Both goalkeepers, BSC senior Kristen Young (Mansfield, Mass.) and PSC junior Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) registered eight saves.
PSC plays its next five games on the road, beginning Saturday (Sept. 9) at Wheaton College (3 p.m.) Bridgewater State plays its home opener Saturday (Sept. 9th)
against Bowdoin (3 p.m.)
