Panthers Debut with Win at Rowan Tournament

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Senior midfielder Jeremy Gasowski (Lee, NH) scored the game-winning goal in overtime Saturday night, leading Plymouth State
College to a 1-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan in the first round of the Sunkist Kick-Off Classic, hosted by Rowan University.

PSC advances to the championship game Sunday night (7 p.m.) against host Rowan. The Profs downed Haverford in the other first-round game, 3-1.

The verdict Saturday marked career victory No. 1 for new Panther head coach Keith Byrnes.

Gasowski, a senior co-captain, recorded the game-winner 1:04 into the first sudden vicitory overtime. He connected on a pass from freshman midfielder
Kyle Bowman (Bedford, NH). In the Panthers’ goal, sophomore Brad Wilby (Haddonfield, NJ) stopped seven shots for his fourth career shutout. VWU keeper
Sean Wheaton made five saves.

Virginia Wesleyan had a 10-7 advantage over PSC in total shots on goal.
