Panthers down Williams to finish duals at 9-9

MILFORD, N.H. – In the final dual match of the season, Plymouth State College edged Williams College 21-15 in a match held at Milford Middle
School.

With the win, the Panthers finish the regular season with a 9-9 record. PSC, which is ranked eighth in New England, has not had a losing season in six
years under coach Dave Carlson. Williams drops to 4-16.

Three Panther wrestlers earned victories on the mat, while two captured forfeit wins. The most impressive triumph came at 184 pounds, where PSC’s
Marco Salce (Keene, N.H.) defeated Conan Leary (Carver, Mass.), 3-1. Leary is the defending New England champion and is currently ranked second in the
weight class.

Other PSC winners included Moses Cerritos (Naples, Fla.), who edged Dan DiCenzo (Plymouth, N.H.) at 174 pounds, 4-1, and Dave Brown (North
Andover, Mass.), who defeated Josh Weisenbeck (Madison, N.J.) at 141 pounds, 7-5.

PSC’s Rich Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) and Chris Villa (Monmouth Jct., N.J.) earned forfeit victories.

A big match-up occurred at 197 pounds between the top two ranked wrestlers in New England. Williams’ Ken Ojukwu (Albany, N.Y.), ranked No. 1,
defeated PSC sophomore Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.), ranked No. 2, 5-2.

The Panthers are now idle until the New England Championships on Feb. 17-18 at Williams College.
