Panthers drop Anchormen in dual meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Plymouth State College won seven of the 10 individual matches Wednesday evening to earn a 33-17 victory over Rhode Island
College in a college wrestling meet.

The victory was PSC’s first of the season, evening the Panthers at 1-1. RIC drops to 0-1.

Two Panther wrestlers pinned their opponents. Senior Nate Buffington (Plymouth, N.H.) pinned Mike Vieira at 125 pounds, and sophomore Rick
Simula (Plymouth, N.H.) pinned Jordan Goor at 285 pounds. Buffington is now 8-6 on the season and Simula is 12-5.

The rest of PSC’s winners were junior Shaun Cleary (West Keansburg, N.J.) at 141 pounds, sophomore Rich Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) at 157
pounds, junior Chris Villa (Monmouth Jct., N.J.) at 165, freshman Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) at 174 pounds, and senior Marco Salce (Keene, N.H.) at

Cleary leads the team in victories with a 13-5 record. The other Panthers who have reached double figures in wins include Simula, Dan Moskowitz at
12-3, Rich Moskowitz at 10-4, and Salce at 10-5.

RIC’s winners included Mike Riley at 133, Chad Lampert at 149 and Justin Deveau at 197.

Plymouth State wraps up the competition for the semester this Saturday (Dec. 8) with a quad-meet at Roger Williams University. PSC will take on
Roger Williams, Southern Maine and Western New England, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
