WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State College captured nine of the 16 events Saturday to defeat Plymouth State College in a women’s swimming and diving meet, 163-131.
Plymouth State had three student-athletes who won two individual events each. Senior Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) captured the 500 yard freestyle in 5:52.81 and the 200 yard individual medley in 2:29.03, senior Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) took the 50 and 100 yard freestyle (27.41 and 59.67, respectively), and sophomore Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) placed first in both the one- and three-meter diving (216.3 and 227.7 points, respectively).
PSC also captured the final event, the 400 free relay, with the team of Ann Winters (Chester, N.H.), Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.), Bernier and Bregy, who finished the race in 4:10.59.
The Panthers, 0-1, return to action with another dual meet this Wednesday (Nov. 14) at 6 p.m. at Salem State.
