NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Senior Kelly Landry (Nashua, N.H.) led Plymouth State University with 14 kills Tuesday evening as the Panthers swept the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in three games in a Little East Conference match at the Tripp Athletic Center.
The Panthers remain undefeated and in first place in the LEC with the 30-20, 30-24, 30-18 triumph over the Corsairs. PSU improves to 5-0 in the LEC and 16-7 overall, while UMD falls to 7-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Senior Becky Ciulla (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomore Kirsten Willoughby (Plymouth, N.H.) also contributed eight kills apiece in the Panther effort. Senior Amanda Bagwell (Riverside, R.I.) helped out the offense with 39 set assists.
Sophomore Kim Tobyne (Bedford, N.H.) led the Panther defense, making 25 digs, while sophomore Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H.) added 13 digs and three service aces. Senior Lindsey Bodwell (Farmington, N.H.) chipped in with 11 digs and a team-high four aces.
Freshman libero Aly Zagame (Greenfield, Mass.) led UMD with 15 digs. Sophomore Nazareth Cardoso (Brockton, Mass.) added 10 kills, freshman Hilary Teichart (Bourne, Mass.) added six kills and two blocks, and junior setter Lauren Daly (Brockton, Mass.) had 29 assists and seven digs.
PSU returns to action this weekend with a trip to New York City for the NYU Tournament. The Panthers will play five matches, including a pair against two of the top 10 teams in the nation in Division III – sixth-ranked NYU and ninth-ranked Elmhurst.
