2/8/03 PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Whitney Morin (Derby Line, Vt.) scored 24 points in 22 minutes of action Saturday as Plymouth State College knocked off Western
Connecticut State University, 76-47, in a Little East Conference women’s basketball game at Foley Gymnasium.
PSC, which avenged an early-season loss to the Colonials, won for the ninth time in 10 outings to improve to 14-6 overall and 7-3 in the Little East. Western
Connecticut, which has dropped six of its last seven, fell to 7-14 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
Morin hit 10-of-15 field goal attempts, including 5-of-6 in the second half. The only other Panther to reach double figures in scoring was senior Courtney Albert
(Hudson, N.H.), who finished with 13 points. Senior Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Plymouth State jumped out to a 10-point lead (22-12) just nine minutes into the contest, and pushed its lead to 19 points (44-25) by halftime. The Panthers scored
the first 12 points of the second half to take a 31-point advantage (56-25), and WCSU never challenged the rest of the way. PSC coach Lauren Lavigne was able to use
the whole bench, as all 15 Panther players saw playing time.
Freshman guard Alva Jeffreys (Bridgeport, Conn.) led the visitors with 11 points, while junior Christin Morgatto (Seymour, Conn.) added nine points and nine
