PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College scored a pair of unassisted goals and tied Bates College Wednesday evening in a 2-2 men’s soccer
double-overtime draw at Panther Field.
The Bobcats got two goals from senior Nick MacInnis (Andover, MA), but freshman Koichi Nakatsubo (Franklin, NH) knotted the game at 2-2 in the
64th minute and neither team was able to score the rest of the way.
MacInnis started the scoring for the Bobcats 15 minutes into the first half when he converted a pass from senior Brian Luma (Virginia Beach, VA). The
Panthers got on the board with six minutes remaining in the first half when junior Chipe Culum (Manchester, NH) received a pass from freshman Steve
Balgach (Fairfield, CT) and blasted one pass the Bobcat keeper.
MacInnis got his second goal of the night 10 minutes into the second half when a ball skipped through the Panther defense to MacInnis and he put it
past Plymouth State College keeper Brad Wilby (Haddonfield, NJ). The Panthers tied the game eight minutes later as Nakatsubo blasted a left footed curling
ball into the upper right corner to even the match.
Senior keeper Brad Wilby (Haddonfield, NJ) was solid in net for PSC making six saves while Bates junior keeper Chris Mansfield registered 18 in the
PSC returns to Little East Conference action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. match at Eastern Connecticut. Bates hosts Williams Saturday at 2 p.m.
