WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. – Wentworth junior Jeff Reid (Oshawa, Ont.) stopped all 19 shots he faced Sunday night to lead the Leopards to a 2-0 ECAC
Northeast Conference victory over Plymouth State College at the Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
Wentworth remains undefeated in league play (7-0-0) and improves to 9-4-0 overall. The Panthers, 8-7-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the conference, finished the weekend with a split in
its two Northeast Conference games; PSC captured a 5-4 victory over Framingham State Saturday night in Massachusetts.
Sunday’s shutout was the first time PSC had been blanked since Cortland State whitewashed the Panthers 5-0 on Nov. 22, 1997. Sophomore defenseman John Hourihan
scored his first goal of the season for the game-winner two minutes into the second period, and freshman Ryan Brown added the insurance marker with 2:39 to play in the game.
PSC freshman Larry Forgue (Nashua, NH) made 28 saves on 30 shots in the Panther net. Forgue was also between the pipes in Saturday’s win at Framingham State, making
23 stops to earn the victory.
Sophomore Erik Nadeau (Waterville, ME) and junior Tim Conroy (Cohasset, MA) led the Panther offense Saturday night, connecting on a goal and two assists apiece. Junior Eric
Ryan (North Chelmsford, MA), the team’s leading scorer with 12 goals and eight assists, scored a power play goal, and freshmen Tony LaScola (Fairfax, VA) and John Hornor (Marlton,
NJ) each scored their first career goal.
The Panthers play a non-conference game Tuesday (Jan. 19) against New Hampshire College at Waterville Valley (7:00 p.m.), and play a key Northeast battle Saturday (Jan. 23)
at Tufts (6:15 p.m.).
