PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College swept a Little East Conference softball doubleheader from UMass Dartmouth Saturday at D & M Park, winning the first game 6-5 in
the bottom of the seventh inning and coming from behind to take the nightcap, 4-2.
PSC senior Sara Wormwood (Rutland, VT) had a monster game in the opener, going 4-for-4 with three doubles and four runs scored. She scored the game-winning run in the
seventh inning, getting on base with a lead-off double, advancing to third on an outfield fly and scoring on an infield grounder. Freshman Adriene Harvey (Nantucket, Mass.) also had
two hits and scored PSC’s other two runs.
Senior pitcher Jen Moulton (Bow, NH) went the distance for PSC to improve her record to 5-2, while UMD’s Erika Roderiques (Freetown, Mass.) took the loss to drop to 2-9.
Freshman Brittany Mitchell (Berlin, Mass.) led the Corsairs offense with three hits, including a double, and three RBI. Freshman Amy Mogardo (Stoughton, Mass.) added a pair of hits
and an RBI.
PSC senior pitcher Heather Gadourey (North Billerica, Mass.) allowed just two runs (one earned) and four hits in the nightcap to improve her record to 4-1. Junior Kelly Anderson
(Exeter, NH) knocked in a pair of runs for PSC, and freshman Bo Dell (Porter Corners, NY) added a pinch-hit RBI single that tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning.
Sophomore Heather Blaisdell (Seekonk, Mass.) had two hits and an RBI to lead the Corsairs. Freshman Mindy Perruzzi (Tiverton, Mass.) went the distance and was saddled
with the loss.
PSC, 11-9 overall and 2-2 in the Little East, plays a home doubleheader Sunday against Castleton State (1:00 p.m.). UMD, 4-16 overall and 0-2 in the LEC, returns home to host
UMass Boston Tuesday (4/11).
