BEVERLY, Mass. – Plymouth State College had its six-match winning streak in women’s tennis snapped Thursday with a 6-3 loss at Endicott College.
The Panthers managed to win only three singles matches against the Power Gulls. PSC, which has clinched its first winning season since 1995, is now 7-2 overall. The record gives the Panthers more win than they registered the last two years combined.
Sophomore Katie Olsen (Reading, Mass.) won her match for PSC at No. 2 singles, improving her record to 8-1. Sophomore Cally Thorup (Cumberland, Maine) was victorious at No. 4 singles, and freshman Cassie Cash (Bath, Maine) was the winner at No. 6 to improve her mark to 5-0. Junior Sarah Kasuba (Stratford, Conn.), who started the year at 8-0, lost her first singles match of the season at No. 3.
Two of PSC’s unbeaten doubles teams also went down to defeat. Kasuba and Thorup are now 4-1 at No. 2 doubles, and sophomore Holly Mills (Reading, Mass.) and Kelley Sheehan (Newburyport, Mass.) dropped to 5-1 at No. 3 doubles.
PSC returns to action Saturday (Oct. 6) with a home Little East Conference match against Western Connecticut. The time of the match has been moved to 11:00 a.m.
