Pelletier, who scored a career-high 25 points, was on fire down the stretch, leading the Panther comeback with 13 points in the final six minutes. She finished the game with an
8-of-11 shooting performance, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.
RIC held a six-point lead (76-70) with 1:29 remaining, but Pelletier made a three-pointer with 1:13 left to cut the lead to three. After RIC’s Jen Cook (West Warwick, RI) hit one of
two free throws, Pelletier hit another three-pointer with 42 seconds left to make it 77-76, RIC. Cook missed a shot attempt with 10 seconds left, and Pelletier got the rebound. After a
PSC time-out with six seconds on the clock, Pelletier hit the winning basket, and RIC couldn’t get a shot off in the final 1.4 seconds.
The Panthers also got a strong inside game from senior Lauren Santoli (Mansfield, Mass.), who came off the bench to hit 7-of-11 shots and finish with 16 points. Sophomore
Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) and senior Courtney Jacques (Belmont, NH) each added 10 points to the Panther cause.
The Anchorwomen had four scorers in double figures, led by Christine Martin (Middletown, RI) with 23 points. Senior Meaghan Davis (Uxbridge, Mass.) scored 14, Cook added
13, and sophomore Erica Waltonen chipped in with 12.
PSC won for the fifth time in six outings to improve to 15-6 overall and 6-5 in the LEC, while RIC drops to 6-14 and 4-7. The Panthers will be at Foley Gymnasium again Saturday
to host UMass Boston (1 p.m.), while RIC returns home Saturday to host Southern Maine (1 p.m.).
