PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the third time this season, the leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men’s basketball team has been selected the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Co-Player of the Week.
Senior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) was recognized Wednesday for his efforts in three Panther victories last week. Pelotte, who has been the Little East Conference Player of the Week four times this season, earned the top ECAC weekly honor once in December and again last month.
A 5’10” guard, Pelotte continues to scorch the statistics as he averaged 27.3 points, 6.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds in the Panthers’ 3-0 week. He led PSU in scoring all three games, pouring in 20 or more points in each of the victories. He scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out eight assists in an 88-72 win over Bowdoin, then contributed 26 points and six assists in a 97-72 win over Johnson & Wales. Pelotte saved his best for last as he tallied 34 points and six assists in a 96-86 win over LEC foe Eastern Connecticut. For the week, Pelotte shot 52.3% from the field and 44.4% from three-point land.
A two-time All-LEC First Team selection, Pelotte leads the conference in scoring (25.5 ppg) and ranks third in assists (4.1 apg) and fifth in made three-point field goals (2.0 per game). He is 134 points shy of becoming the third player in school history to reach 2,000 career points.
