Pianist Owen Lovell performs at Plymouth State

Pianist Owen Lovell, coordinator of piano and theory studies for the Eastern U.S. Music Camp at Colgate University, will perform at Plymouth State University, Wednesday, February 4 at 3:45 p.m.

Lovell earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in performance from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University and has studied with Boris Slutsky, Julian Martin, Ellen Mack, Leon Fleisher and others.

Lovell has appeared as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, Ontario and Mexico. He is currently completing his
Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Texas, where his principal instructors are Dr. Betty Mallard and Gregory Allen.

His performance at Plymouth State will take place in the Smith Recital Hall at the Silver Cultural Arts Center on Main Street in Plymouth. The Program includes:

Sonata in G Major, Hob XVI:6 Franz Joseph Haydn

Valses nobles et sentimentales Maurice Ravel

Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Opus 36 Sergei Rachmaninoff
