SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Plymouth State University wrestling team suffered a pair of losses at a tri-meet Saturday afternoon, falling to Roger Williams University, 39-12, and Western New England College, 30-27. The Panthers complete the semester with a 1-2 record in dual meets.
Senior Nick Gurney (Dixfield, Maine) and sophomore Shaun Wilbert (Toms River, N.J.) turned in strong performances for the Panthers, winning both of their matches. Gurney won his bouts at 184 pounds to improve his season record to 6-4, while Wilbert was 2-0 at 285 pounds to up his season mark to 7-5. They were the only Panther winners against Roger Williams, although both came away with pins.
