PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College ran its field hockey winning streak to seven games Saturday with a 3-0 triumph over Eastern Connecticut State
University in a Little East Conference match-up at Arold Field.
With a week to play in the regular season, PSC is now 10-4 overall and in first place in the LEC at 7-1. Eastern Connecticut drops to 9-6 overall and 6-3 in
Senior Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, Maine) put PSC on the board 10 minutes into the first half, assisted by junior Katie Dodge (Sanbornton, N.H.). Senior Megan
Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) tallied a goal in her second straight game, and she leads the team in scoring with six goals and one assist. Junior Jill Matteson
(Chatham, Mass.) added an insurance goal for the Panthers with 16:28 left in the second half, her fourth of the season.
Plymouth State finished with a 21-5 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore keeper Ellen Ward (Thorndike, Maine) made three saves to register her fourth shutout
of the season and 13th of her career. Junior Jennifer Makwana (Stamford, Conn.) played a solid game in net for Eastern, making 14 saves.
The Panthers wrap up the regular season this week with a home game Wednesday against Fitchburg State (4:00 p.m.) and a road game Saturday at Worcester
State (6:00 p.m.). ECSU plays again Tuesday at UMass Dartmouth (4:00 p.m.)
