The 60 member Plymouth State College Chorale will join with the Manchester Choral Society to present the Verdi Requiem Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21.
The collaboration is the result of months of planning according to Dan Perkins, PSC associate professor of music and director of choral studies, who is conducting the concerts.
The opportunity to perform a work of this magnitude, with professional orchestra and soloists, is a unique one for PSC students. This year’s collaboration follows on the heels of last year’s successful venture with the Dartmouth Handel Society.
The April 20 performance will be at the Plymouth State College Silver Cultural Arts Center at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 general admission ($18 students and seniors) at the box office, 535-ARTS.
The April 21 performance will be at Ste. Marie Church in Manchester, at 4 p.m. Tickets for that performance are available at Ted Herbert’s Music Mart on Elm Street or by telephone at 800-639-2928.
“Operatic magnificence characterizes this masterwork by Verdi, who died 100 years ago. This beautiful work will be performed with full orchestra,” Perkins says.
