PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Frankie Finklea (Dorchester, Mass.) led a contingent of five Plymouth State College players who scored in double
figures Saturday night as the Panthers hammered Rhode Island College 90-63 in a Little East Conference men’s basketball game.
Finklea posted a team-high 17 points, connecting on three successful three-point baskets and all six free throws. Sophomore Mike Loughlin
(Manchester, N.H.) contributed 16 points and five steals, and junior Kenny Stewart (Londonderry, N.H.) chipped in with 15 points and five assists. Senior
Jason Blackburn (Hudson, Mass.) and junior Donnelle Combs (Mitchellville, Md.) added 10 points apiece, with Combs collecting a team-high seven rebounds.
The win improves PSC to 8-5 overall (3-2 LEC), while RIC falls to 1-14 overall (0-4 LEC).
PSC shot 51 percent from the field while forcing 30 Anchormen turnovers. The Panthers led 43-33 at the break, and cruised home with the win in the
second half. Jason Harris was the only RIC player to score in double figures, turning in an 18-point effort in the loss.
The Panthers play their fourth straight road game Tuesday in a Little East match-up at Southern Maine (7:30 p.m.).
