PSC defeats Michael’s

PLYMOUTH, N.H.– Plymouth State College used a well-rounded effort Tuesday to defeat St. Michael’s College 15-8, 15-2, 15-12 in women’s volleyball action at Foley

The Panthers, which rebounded after losing eight of their last 12 matches, improves to 14-9 on the season. The Purple Knights fall to 1-12.

In the first game and PSC trailing 6-2 the Panthers scored 12 unanswered points and never looked back. Senior Stephanie Spiridakis (Belmont, NH) and
freshman Lindsey Green (Guilford, CT) served six points apiece during the rally.

During the second game, the Panthers rode the strong net play of freshman Bryce Budzinski (Killingworth, CT) and sophomore Carin LaValley (Northfield, NH) in
the easy victory.

St. Michael’s led the third game 12-10 before Plymouth State sophomore Jessie O’Hearn (Tilton, NH) served out the last five points, giving the Panthers the three
game sweep.

Leading the way for PSC was Budzinski and LaValley who had 17 and 10 kills, respectively, and O’Hearn added 28 assists. St. Michael’s was led by Holly Upper
(Snowmass Village, CO) who had 11 kills and 10 digs. Val Phillips (Bellingham, MA) added 21 assists and 14 digs for the Purple Knights.

Plymouth State returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Boston for a 1 p.m. match with Regis College.
