PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State College women’s tennis team registered its eighth victory of the season Saturday, handing Western Connecticut State University a 7-2 defeat in a Little East Conference match at the P.E. Center.
Plymouth State is currently 8-2 overall 4-1 in the LEC. This is the best record for the Panthers since 1990 when they finished 9-3 overall.
PSC won five of its six singles matches. Leading the way for the green and white was junior Jamie Hazard (Foster, R.I.) at No. 1, sophomore Katie Olsen (Reading, Mass.) at No. 2, junior Sarah Kasuba (Stratford, CT) at No. 3, Cally Thorup (Cumberland, Maine) at No. 4 and sophomore Lindsay Coletti (Hudson, Mass.) at No. 5. Olsen and Kasuba lead the team with 9-1 singles records.
PSC took two of its three doubles encounters. Doubles winners included Kasuba and Thorup at No. 2, and sophomore Holly Mills (Reading, Mass.) and freshman Kelley Sheehan (Newburyport, Mass.) at No. 3.
The Panthers play in their last regular season match on Monday (Oct. 8) in a non-conference encounter at Saint Anselm (3:00 p.m.). PSC is in second place in the LEC and will play in the conference tournament next weekend (Oct. 12-13) at Southern Maine.
