PSC drops first LEC match to UMD

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Plymouth State College suffered its first Little East Conference women’s volleyball loss of the season Tuesday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision
(30-22, 30-28, 30-18) to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

The Panthers fall to 10-7 overall and 3-1 in LEC matches. UMass Dartmouth improves to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference. This is the second year in a row that UMD has
defeated PSC.

The Corsairs were led by Carla Ferreira, who registered 14 kills and five solo blocks. Julie Caldarone added seven kills and Doris Nasrallah added 12 assists.

For the Panthers, junior Carin LaValley (Northfield, N.H.) and sophomore Becky Landry (Nashua, N.H.) each recorded 10 kills, and junior Jessie O’Hearn (Tilton, N.H.) had 19
assists. LaValley and sophomores Amber Greenlaw (Gilford, N.H.) and Joanna Brothers (Meredith, N.H.) all finished with 11 digs.

Plymouth State returns to action in the Eastern Connecticut Tournament this Friday-Saturday (Oct. 5-6) in Willimantic, Conn.
