WESTFIELD, Mass. – Plymouth State College and Westfield State College played to a 1-1 double overtime deadlock Thursday night in a non-conference women’s
PSC is now 8-6-2 overall, while Westfield State is now 7-8-1.
Senior Krista DiCarlo scored Westfield’s only goal with 4:43 left in the first half, with an assist from Meghan McCann. PSC tied the score with 9:57 left in regulation
on the first career goal by freshman Kristen Hurley (Norfolk, Mass.). Junior Carrie Poulin (Westfield, Mass.), a local native and PSC’s leading scorer, made a nice touch
pass to get credit for the assist on the game-tying goal.
PSC junior keeper Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.), another local product, made 12 saves in the contest. Westfield State’s Meghan McHale stopped
seven shots. The Owls outshot the Panthers 20-7 in their regular season finale.
The Panthers wrap up the regular season Saturday with a Little East Conference match-up at UMass Dartmouth (1 p.m.). A victory would give PSC home-field
advantage in the first round of the LEC Tournament, which begins Tuesday (Oct. 24).
