NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Plymouth State College women’s swimming and diving team was defeated by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in a dual meet Saturday, 167-131.
The outcome drops PSC’s record to 5-4 on the season, with one dual meet remaining. UMass Dartmouth is now 6-5. Plymouth State won the 200 medley relay to open the meet, and won six other individual events, but couldn’t pull out the victory.
PSC’s six wins came from six different individuals, including two in diving. Sophomore Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) won the 100 butterfly in a season-best 1:04.68, junior Caitlin O’Connor (Rochester, N.H.) took the 50 free (27.55), senior Amy Bernier (Bristol, Conn.) captured the 100 free (59.81), and senior Allison Bregy (Camden, Maine) won the 100 breaststroke (1:18.41).
The Panthers swept the diving events, with sophomore Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) winning on the one-meter board (205.50 points) and classmate Jen Crescenzi (Killingworth, Conn.) winning on three meter (season-high 226.20).
The Panthers return home for the final dual meet next Saturday (Feb. 9) against Simmons College at the PSC Natatorium (1:00 p.m.).
