FREDONIA, N.Y. – Ryan Ohl scored a goal three minutes into overtime Saturday to give the Penn State-Behrend men’s soccer team a 2-1 victory over
Plymouth State College on the second day of the eighth annual Blue Devil Days Inn Classic, hosted by SUNY Fredonia.
PSC, which lost a 1-0 decision to host Fredonia in Friday’s opener, drops to 0-2 on the season. Penn State-Behrend is now 3-1. Senior defender
Magnus Eriksson (Arjang, Sweden) and junior goalkeeper Brad Wilby (Haddonfield, N.J.) were PSC’s selections to the All-Tournament Team.
After a scoreless first half, PSU-Behrend got on the board first with an own goal just a minute into the second half. PSC evened the score in the 62nd
minute when sophomore Michael Cantelli (Raymond, N.H.) connected on his first goal of the season, with an assist from Eriksson.
Neither team was able to score the rest of the way through the end of regulation, setting up Ohl’s game-winner. PSC finished with a 15-7 advantage in
shots on goal.
PSC senior goalkeeper Scott Laine (Spencer, Mass.) was credited with three saves, while Behrend keeper Jacob Hordych made six saves.
The Panthers will play another road contest Wednesday (Sept. 12) at Bridgewater State (4 p.m.)
