PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Defending Pilgrim League champion Eastern Connecticut used seven unanswered second quarter goals Saturday at Panther Field to
beat Plymouth State 22-8 in a men’s lacrosse rematch of last season’s championship game.

The Warriors improved to 8-1 on the season and pushed their Pilgrim League mark to 4-0. The Panthers dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the Pilgrim

ECSU jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter before PSC clawed back. A single goal at the end of the first quarter, followed by two straight to open
the second tied the game at four. From that point, however, it was all Eastern, as the Warriors scored eight unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. ECSU
led 11-4 at the half, then outscored the Panthers 6-2 in the third and 5-2 in the fourth.

The Warriors got strong performances from their entire team, as 14 different players scored points for Eastern. Brendan Carney led the way with four
goals and an assist. Jeff Reinhart (Londonderry, NH) added a goal and three assists in his “homecoming.”

PSC got solid offensive games from seniors Nate Ostis (Yarmouth, ME) and Josh Perry (Falmouth, MA) and sophomore Jim Martocchio (Simsbury,
CT). Ostis scored a hat trick while Perry and Martocchio each scored twice. Perry also scored an assist in the game, while Martocchio scored his 100th career
point (86 goals, 14 assists).

Three ECSU goalies, Jon Gorgone, Ryan Reitano and Scott Burch, combined for 11 saves on the day. PSC goalie Nate Pearson (Bow, NH) made
eight stops in the first half before giving way to Kevin Gholami (Markleysburg, PA), who made seven second half saves.

PSC plays its first night-game ever at Panther Field on Monday (Apr. 19) against New England College at 7:00 p.m. ECSU also plays Monday, hosting
Roger Williams at 4:00 p.m.
