PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The nationally ranked Bowdoin College women’s lacrosse team continued its perfect season with a 15-1 win over Plymouth State at Arold Field on Saturday.
The Polar Bears, the eighth ranked team in the latest Division III National Ranking, held a 5-0 advantage at the break, and never looked back. The win pushed Bowdoin’s mark to 9-0 while the Panthers dropped to 7-2.
Freshman Robin Hartman (Reistertown, MD) kept the PSC squad from being shutout, scoring Plymouth’s lone goal with just six seconds remaining in the game. Hartman is second on the team in scoring with 21 goals and 27 points.
Junior Adrienne Gratry (Chagrin Falls, OH) led Bowdoin with three goals. Seniors Kristen Doughty (East Harpswell, MA), and Brooke Goodchild (Marblehead, MA), junior Heather Hawes (Westport, MA), and freshmen Kristi Perine (Middlebury, VT) and Whitney Church (Westwood, MA) each tallied two goals, while sophomore Sage Orr (Falmouth, MA) and freshman Kate Calise (Manhasset, NY) each scored once. Junior Elizabeth MacNeil (Lincoln, MA) recorded an assist for the Polar Bears.
Bowdoin goalie Julia McCombs (Potomac, MD) needed to make just three saves in the win, while PSC goalie Lisa Goldberg (Newton, MA) made two saves in the first half. Senior Brenna Matarazzo (Salem, NH) came in for the final 24 minutes and made three saves.
The Panthers play their final regular-season New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance Northern Division contest Sunday (Apr. 18) at Colby-Sawyer (1:00 p.m.). PSC doesn’t play at Arold Field again until Saturday, April 24th, when they play host to Colby College. Bowdoin plays at Bates Sunday (1:00 p.m.) and at Colby on Thursday, Apr. 22.)
