LINCOLN, N.H. – Plymouth State College’s men’s ski team continued its winning ways Saturday in the slalom race at the Brown University Winter Carnival at Loon Mountain.
The Panthers placed first among 10 teams, finishing with a faster combined time that runner-up Boston College and third place Colby-Sawyer. PSC placed sixth among 11 schools in
the women’s slalom.
The PSC men had five of the top 14 skiers Saturday, using the combined time of two runs. Senior Tim Mitchell (Ashland, Mass.) continued his strong season, capturing first place in
the slalom for the second straight weekend. . Senior EJ Cheney (Bethel, Maine) placed fifth, followed by freshmen Tyler Barlow (South Burlington, Vt.) in seventh, senior Jake Manseau
(Henniker, N.H.) in 13th, and sophomore Brent Grygiel (Windham, Maine) in 14th.
Sophomore Whitney Swaffield (Wolfeboro, N.H.) turned in a solid third-place finish for the Panther women’s team. Junior Heidi Mann (Merrimack, N.H.) came in 20th place, followed
by freshman Carol McCarthy (East Rochester, N.H.) in 34th and sophomore Amber Elliott (Exeter, N.H.) in 38th.
The competition continues Sunday with the giant slalom.
