A New Brain, by composer-lyricist William Finn (whose best-known work is Falsettos) and James Lapine will be performed at the Silver Cultural Arts Center November 20-24.
The loosely autobiographical story is about Gordon Schwinn, a neurotic, frustrated composer who must deal with a life-threatening illness while writing children’s television jingles for a man in a frog costume. Forced to face his own mortality, what haunts Gordon the most are the songs that he fears he will never write if he doesn’t survive.
Director Beth Cox says, “William Finn creates a beautiful, wry story about the struggle to maintain personal integrity and the ability to see comfort in the healing power of art.”
Tickets are available at the PSC box office, 535-ARTS. Note: A New Brain includes adult language and content.
