POULTNEY, Vt. – Plymouth State College won four of the six singles matches Wednesday en route to a 5-4 victory over Green Mountain College in women’s tennis action.
With the victory, PSC improves its record to 3-1. The Panthers are an improved squad this season, as they won only four matches all of last year.
Plymouth State captured only one of the three doubles eight-game pro-sets, as junior Sarah Kasuba (Stratford, Conn.) and sophomore Katie Olsen (Reading, Mass.) teamed to register the verdict at No. 2 doubles. Kasuba and Olsen led the Panthers in singles as well, winning straight-set matches at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Kasbuba is now 4-0 on the season in singles, and Olsen is 3-1, and they are 3-0 together in doubles.
The other winners for PSC against Green Mountain were junior Jamie Hazard (Foster, R.I.), who improved to 3-1 at No. 2 singles, and freshman Cassie Cash (Bath, Maine), who won her first match of the season at No. 6 singles.
PSC returns to action Saturday (Sept. 22) with a home Little East Conference match against UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.).
