LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College men’s lacrosse team bolted out to a 9-0 lead after the first quarter en route to an 18-1 win over Plymouth State College in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game at the AstroTurf Field Tuesday night.
Jon Fador (Winchester, Mass.), Brad Frost (Winchester, Mass.) and Brenton Pitt (Duxbury, Mass.) all tallied three goals apiece to lead Bates (4-5). Dan Ross (Chevy Chase, Md.) added a pair of assists while Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) turned in a superb performance in goal, missing a shutout by only two minutes and change.
The Bobcats, who are ranked 13th in New England, dominated from the start. It was 13-0 by halftime and the Panthers didn’t challenge the rest of the way.
Junior Ken McGuire (Wayland, Mass.) notched the only goal for Plymouth State (0-3) when he scored with just 2:21 to play in regulation. Junior goalkeeper Tim McNamara (West Lebanon, N.H.) kept the Bates offense in check in the second half, after watching from the bench in the first half.
PSC, which is playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation, returns to action Saturday at Massachusetts Maritime (1:00 p.m.).
