WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. – Senior Kevin Creighton (Falmouth, Mass.) scored two goals and assisted on three others Tuesday night at Waterville Valley Ice Arena, leading the
Plymouth State College ice hockey team to a 9-3 victory over Curry College in an ECAC Northeast Conference match-up.
The nine-goal output by PSC was the highest in a game this season. Eight different Panthers scored goals, and 12 players got on the scoresheet with a goal or an assist.
Plymouth State led 2-1 after one period and 5-2 after two, breaking the game open in the final period with a four-goal output. PSC improves to 4-8-2 overall and 3-3-2 in the ECAC
Curry remains winless in 2000, dropping its fifth straight contest to fall to 2-13-1 overall and 2-7-0 in the ECAC Northeast.
Creighton, who had eight points all season before his five-point outburst Tuesday, scored both his goals in the third period. The Panthers also got a goal and two assists from
senior Eric Ryan (Chelmsford, Mass.), and a goal and one assist each from seniors Rich Vega (New Milford, Conn.) and John Power (Reading, Mass.). Also getting into the goal
scoring department for PSC were juniors Erik Nadeau (Waterville, Maine), Tom Beaulieu (Hudson, NH) and Michael Zegarelli (Clinton, NY) and sophomore Chris Tortorella
Curry got single goals from juniors Sean Whalen (Hamden, Conn.), Joe Savioli (Milton, Mass.) and Joe Amendola (Norwood, Mass.).
Sophomore Ryan Wood (Stoneham, Mass.) made 41 saves for Curry, while PSC sophomore Larry Forgue (Nashua, NH) made 31 saves before giving way to Cliff Mask
(London, ONT) for the final four minutes.
PSC is idle until an conference match-up at Suffolk University on Wednesday, Feb. 8th (8 p.m.). Curry returns home to host Tufts Thursday (Feb. 3) at 8 p.m.
