ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Plymouth State College had place-winners in six of the 10 weight classes, and finished sixth overall out of 10 teams Saturday at
the 36th Annual RIT Wrestling Tournament, hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology
Cortland State and John Carroll University shared the team title with 145 points. Oswego State (125) placed third, followed by Ithaca (105), Case
Western Reserve (79.5), Plymouth State (69), RIT (62), Wesleyan (42.5), MIT (31) and Waynesburg (20).
Leading the Panther contingent was junior Shaun Cleary (West Keansburg, N.J.), who placed third at 141 pounds after posting a 4-1 record in the
tournament. He improved his season record to 12-5, the most victories on the team.
Sophomores Rich Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) and Rick Simula (Plymouth, N.H.) muscled their way to fourth place finishes for PSC. Moskowitz won
three of his five bouts in the 157-pound weight class, improving his season record to 9-4, and Simula split four matches in the 285-pound division to give him a
11-5 record this year.
Three other Panthers finished in sixth place in their bracket. Freshman Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) suffered his first loss of the season at 165
pounds, and finished with a 3-3 record in the tournament to give him a season mark of 11-3. Senior Marco Salce (Keene, N.H.) finished sixth at 184 pounds
and now has a record of 9-5, and senior Nate Buffington (Plymouth, N.H.) placed sixth at 125 and is now 7-6.
PSC returns to action with a dual meet this Wednesday (Dec. 5) at Rhode Island College (7:00 p.m.)
