PSC Poets and Writers Present Calliope Award

May 21st, 2003 by Adam

Plymouth State College Poets and Writers has presented its first annual Calliope Award to Biederman’s Deli and Pub. The award was created by the PSC Poets and Writers as a way to honor those individuals, businesses and organizations that make outstanding contributions to the literary community.

The first Calliope Award was given to Scott and Patti Biederman to express the literary community’s appreciation for their support. “Scott and Patti Biederman have been gracious enough to host the booming Poets and Writers Open Mic at their facilities for years and will hopefully be doing so for years to come, as well as supporting special literary events and publications in the area,” states Daniel Singer ‘03, president of Poets and Writers.

“We are always willing to help out with anything involving PSC,” says Patti Biederman. “We are here every day, it is our lives.”

Director of Alumni Relations Joe Long was happy to hear of the Biederman’s recognition, “ The Biederman’s are great first recipients for this award. They have always been very excited about helping the Poets and Writers organization.”

PSC Poets and Writer was founded in 1993 by Dr. Paul Rogalus and Patricia Smith. In 1996 Poets and Writers began having monthly readings at Biederman’s Deli and it has been their home ever since. Poets and Writers thanks Scott and Patti Biederman for their outstanding support of Poets and Writers and their service to the literary community.
