CASTLETON, Vt. – Senior Courtney Albert (Hudson, N.H.) scored 23 points Tuesday evening, connecting on 9-of-12 field goal attempts and leading Plymouth State College’s women’s basketball team to a 93-65 non-conference victory over Castleton State College.
The Panthers surged to an 18-point lead at halftime (54-36) and never looked back. PSC shots 55.7 percent from the field while the Panther defense limited Castleton State to 33.3 percent shooting.
In addition to Albert, the Panthers also got strong performances from seniors Whitney Morin (Derby Line, Vt.) and Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) and sophomore Betsy Oswalt (Jaffrey, N.H.). Morin contributed 19 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals, while Adey added 15 points and a team-high nine boards. Oswalt reached double figures with 10 points.
The Spartans were led by April Masterson with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Casey Wedge added 11 points and Beth Ratner chipped in with 10.
PSC, 2-1, is idle until Thursday, Dec. 5, when the Panthers travel to Salem State for a tough non-conference encounter (6:00 p.m.).
