PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State College women’s tennis team continued rolling along Monday, defeating Castleton State College, 6-3, at the P.E. Center Courts for its sixth straight victory.
The Panthers have already clinched their first winning season since 1995, and have recorded more wins this season than the last two years combined. PSC is now 7-1 overall, the most wins in a season since the 1995 team finished 7-4.
Plymouth State had stronger depth than Castleton State, with the Panthers winning singles matches at Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6. PSC also took two of the three doubles encounters.
Panther singles winners included sophomore Katie Olsen (Reading, Mass.) at No. 2, junior Sarah Kasuba (Stratford, CT) at No. 3, sophomore Lindsay Coletti (Hudson, Mass.) at No. 5, and freshman Cassie Cash (Bath, Maine) at No. 6. Doubles winners included Kasuba and sophomore Cally Thorup (Cumberland, Maine) at No. 2, and sophomore Holly Mills (Reading, Mass.) and freshman Kelley Sheehan (Newburyport, Mass.) at No. 3.
The Panthers play a non-conference match Thursday (Oct. 4) at Endicott (3:30 p.m.), and return home to host Western Connecticut Saturday (Oct. 6) in an LEC match (1:00 p.m.).
