PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College captured six of the first eight events Wednesday evening and went on to post a 137-108 victory over Salem State University in the first home women’s swimming and diving meet of the season at the PSC Natatorium.
Junior Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) led the Panthers with a pair of victories, winning the 50 yard butterfly (31.03 seconds) and the 100 yard butterfly (1:06.24). Scarborough also teamed with senior Andrea Boutilier (Chicopee, Mass.), freshman Tessa Ferrario (Waterbury, Vt.) and junior Caitlin O’Connor (Rochester, N.H.) to place first in the 200 yard medley relay.
Five other Panthers brought home first place in individual events. Sophomore Corrie Curran (Sandwich, Mass.) won the 200 yard free (2:06.82), senior captain Vanessa Re (West Hartford, Conn.) took the 50 yard breaststroke (39.57 seconds), O’Connor won the 50 free (27.57 second), junior Annabelle Winters (Chester, N.H.) captured the 500 yard freestyle (5:41.26), and junior Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) placed first in the three-meter diving (216.95 points).
Senior Robin Galena (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Leaha Lambros (Lynn, Mass.) led the Vikings with two victories apiece, Galena winning the grueling 1000-yard free (12:29.85) and 100 yard individual medley (1:14.06) and Lambros taking the 50 yard backstroke (35.10) and 100 yard back (1:15.65).
The Panthers, 1-0, are back in action this Saturday (Nov. 23) with another home meet against Regis University (1:00 p.m.).
