CONCORD, N.H. – Plymouth State College jumped out to a 43-21 halftime lead, and went on to register a 89-52 non-conference men’s basketball victory
over New England College Tuesday in the opening game of the Division III Granite State Challenge, hosted by New Hampshire Technical Institute and sponsored
by Jacob’s Bridge Through Autism.
Keene State defeated Colby-Sawyer in the second game, 87-71.
Leading the way for PSC was sophomore Frankie Finklea (Dorchester, Mass.), who scored 20 points. Classmate Ryan Chicoine (Gorham, Maine)
added 17 points and Mike Loughlin (Manchester, N.H./West) contributed 13 points.
The victory improves PSC’s record to 4-2 overall, while NEC dropped to 2-4. PSC went on runs of 19 and 14 points, and at one point in the second half
led by 40, before ending up with the 37-point triumph.
The Panthers resume Little East Conference action Saturday at Eastern Connecticut (3:00 p.m.).
