PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College’s women’s soccer team opened the 2000 season Sunday with a 2-0 victory over non-conference foe Plattsburgh State
at Panther Field
The Panthers took control of the game right from the kick off. In the 35th minute of the opening stanza junior Carrie Poulin (Westfield, Mass.) netted her first goal of
the year from the left goalmouth.
The second half was no different from the first, with PSC controlling play. Freshman midfielder Cathy Berei (Pennington, NJ) netted the second goal of the
afternoon in the 54th minute, blasting a shot from about 20 yards away near the top of the box. PSC outshot the Cardinals for the game, 21-5.
Plymouth State goalkeeper Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) made three saves as she notched her first shutout of the year. Plattsburgh keeper Corie
Gaidusek (Scotia, N.Y.) also played well, making eight saves.
The Plymouth State women, 1-0-0, look to make it two in a row Wednesday (Sept. 6) at 6 p.m. at Panther Field against Bridgewater State. Plattsburgh, 1-1-0, looks
to get back in the win column as it hosts the Pepsi Cardinal Classic next weekend (Sept. 9-10).
