WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. – Junior Eric Ryan (No. Chelmsford, MA) scored three goals Saturday night for his second career hat trick, leading Plymouth State College to a 13-1
rout of Salve Regina University in an ECAC Northeast hockey game at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
The victory was the third in a row for PSC, which moved into first place in the ECAC Northeast. The Panthers are 3-1 both overall and in the conference. Salve drops to 2-4 overall
and 1-3 in the ECAC Northeast.
The Panthers jumped on Salve for three goals in the first three minutes of the game, and led 4-1 after one period. PSC extended the lead to 9-1 by the end of the second period,
and coasted to the victory from there.
Sophomore Erik Nadeau (Waterville, ME) added a goal and three assists to the Panthers’ offensive attack, and junior Rich Vega (New Milford, CT) and sophomore Blaine Korbl
(Manchester, NH) contributed a goal and two assists each. Seniors Steve Colonna (Falmouth, MA) and Josh Perry (Falmouth, MA) and junior Kevin Creighton (Falmouth, MA) each
supplied one goal and one assist.
Also getting into the scoring act for PSC were sophomore Matt McPhee (Plymouth, MA) and Tom Beaulieu (Hudson, NH) with a goal apiece, and senior Todd Hengstenberg
(Clark, NJ) with a pair of third-period scores. Freshman defenseman Chris Tortorella (Larchmont, NY) got on the scoresheet with three assists.
Salve’s only goal, a first-period score, was put in by sophomore Chris Pisani (Marlboro, NJ).
PSC sophomore Cliff Mask (London, Ont.) stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced in the first 25 minutes, and freshman reserve Mike Jezierski (Plymouth, MA) made 10 saves the
rest of the way. Salve’s Brock Giordano (Quincy, MA) and Matt Bria (Worcester, MA) combined for 45 saves.
The Panthers return to action Tuesday (Nov. 24) at Northeast foe St. Michael’s (6:30 p.m.). Salve plays again Tuesday (Nov. 24) at Stonehill (7:15 p.m.).
