Top-seeded Plymouth State College eliminated all the competition over the weekend to post PSC’s first ECAC women’s basketball title Sunday at Foley Gymnasium. The Panthers defeated Keene State 73-57 on Saturday, and finished off Babson 81-69 on Sunday.
Junior Whitney Morin, who tossed in 29 points in Saturday’s semifinal win over Keene State, scored 19 points on Sunday and received the tournament Most Outstanding Player award.
The women, under the leadership of fourth-year coach Lauren Lavigne’94, finished the year at 21-8, matching the school record for wins in a season and posting their third straight 20-win campaign.
The men, playing UMass-Dartmouth after an upset 94-92 victory over Keene State on Saturday, had to settle for second place with a 67-63 loss to the Corsairs.
