PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State College men’s basketball star Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) was named the Little East Conference
Player of the Year and was selected to the All-LEC First Team on Monday.
DeChristopher, who became the second player in PSC history to score 2,000 career points on Saturday, earned Player of the Year honors for the second
straight year. He led the Panthers to a share of the 1998-99 LEC regular season title and a top seeding for both the LEC and this week’s ECAC Tournament. The
senior was also named to the All-LEC First Team for the third straight year.
DeChristopher led Plymouth to its third ever 20-win season this year (20-7) and will set a school record of 21 wins in a season with a victory in
Wednesday’s ECAC Tournament game. DeChristopher has appeared in the post-season in each of his four years on the team.
DeChristopher has earned numerous honors this season, as well as throughout his four years at Plymouth State. Before the basketball season even began he
was named a Pre-Season All-American by The Sporting News. During the year he earned LEC or ECAC honors eight times, and was named to the
All-Tournament team in each of the three tournaments the Panthers played in, including this weekends Little East Conference Tournament. In his time at PSC,
DeChristopher has earned weekly honors 22 times, in addition to winning the LEC Rookie of the Year award in the 1995-96 season.
DeChristopher finished in the top five among the LEC’s best in five different categories this season. The senior was second in the league in scoring (21.7
ppg) and tied for second with 2.5 steals per game. He was also third in assists (4.3 apg), fourth in free throw percentage (.784), fifth in three-point percentage (.397)
as well as finishing 14th in field goal percentage (.453).
DeChristopher is also second among Panther hoopster’s with 265 career three-pointers. He could break the school record by hitting nine more this season.
DeChristopher has scored in double figures in 43 consecutive games, dating back to last season.
DeChristopher and the Panthers will host Wheaton College on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.) in the first round of the ECAC New England Tournament. Plymouth
has made the ECAC Tournament three straight years, and has also made appearances in 1989, 1991 and 1994.
