PSU and Plymouth Community Come Together to Install President

March 16th, 2007 by Adam

The Board of Trustees and Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire announce the investiture of Dr. Sara Jayne Steen as the 14th President of Plymouth State University on Thursday, April 12, 2007.

“Imagine A Way” is more than a celebratory event to install President Steen; it’s a series of events designed to bring PSU’s friends and supporters on campus to reflect on the 136 years of its proud academic tradition, to share in its past and present achievements and to envision future partnerships and collaborations.

“The investiture of a new president represents both an affirmation of cherished traditions as well as the setting of new priorities,” said USNH Chancellor Stephen Reno. “In just these few months since her arrival, President Steen has demonstrated her deep commitment to PSU, its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and larger community of the region and state.”

The “Imagine A Way” celebration will feature events from April 11-14 that showcase PSU students, faculty and staff; that engage the community; that teach about the University’s activities; and that advance the mission of the University.

“On any given day there are exciting things that occur on the PSU campus and in our community,” said PSU education professor and “Imagine A Way” committee co-chair Robert Miller. “The faculty and staff look forward to sharing in this celebration.”

While “Imagine A Way” will celebrate the investiture of President Steen, who will present a University address as part of the program, this is intended to be an annual event that will engage the community and provide an annual “State of the University” presidential message.

“The greater Plymouth community is a great place to live and work,” said Patti Biederman, owner of Biederman’s Deli and Pub and “Imagine A Way” committee co-chair. “The University is a large part of what we all do. This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate our successes, past, present, and future.”
