PLYMOUTH, N.H.-Plymouth State University’s student athletes are not only formidable opponents on the field; they’re tough off of it, too. The PSU Student Athletic Advisor Committee (SAAC) won a food and clothing drive competition within the eight school Little East Conference. PSU was represented by two representatives from each of the University’s 19 varsity sports.
After a two week competition, Plymouth State was declared the winner with over 1200 items collected. The items will be donated to needy families. SAAC president Katie Randall, a PSU field hockey player, says the University’s student-athletes embraced the challenge to gather food and clothing donations.
“PSU’s student athletes go above and beyond for their communities because it’s very important to us,” said Randall. “It reminds us that we are responsible for the community around us, and based on the results of the food and clothing drive, it’s clear that PSU athletes care.”
The donated food and clothing will be given to the Congregational Church of Plymouth’s Community Closet.
