PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the senior captains on the Plymouth State University baseball team has been honored for his successful accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the baseball diamond.
Senior Jamie Aceto (Cumberland, R.I.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Aceto was voted to the Academic All-District 1 Second Team in the College Division.
A four-year veteran on the baseball team and co-captain this season, Aceto (right) started 24 games at first base for the Panthers this spring and finished fourth on the team with a .321 batting average. He also had four doubles and 11 runs batted in and registered a .412 on-base percentage.
In the classroom, Aceto has made the PSU President’s List five times in seven semesters as a Criminal Justice major, and earned a spot on the Dean’s List the other two semesters. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and has received several awards as the top criminal justice student at PSU.
To be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
