PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting left fielder for Plymouth State University baseball team received a top weekly honor from the Little East Conference Monday for his performance in six Panthers games last week.
Junior C.J. Rousseau (Merrimack, N.H.) was named Baseball Player of the Week Monday. He was instrumental in leading PSU to a 3-3 record last week, including a 2-2 mark in conference games. Rousseau is the first Panther player to receive an LEC weekly honor this season.
A 6’0”, 195-pound junior, Rousseau batted .480 in six games last week (12-for-25) with five runs scored, six RBI, three doubles and four walks. He set a PSU single-game record with six hits in an 18-8 win over New England College, going 6-for-7 on the day. He was then 4-for-9 with two RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader split with Rhode Island College, and finished off the week by going 2-for-5 with two walks, a double, an RBI and a run scored in a split against UMass Boston.
For the season, Rousseau is batting .307 with eight doubles (second-most on the team) and a team-leading 32 RBI. He is ranked second in the conference in RBI and tied for fourth in hits (50).
PSU completed its season with a 12-28 overall record, and a 3-11 mark in the LEC.
