PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University basketball teams were named to the Little East Conference Weekly Honor Roll Monday for their performances in several Panther games last week.
Junior forwards Andreas Pope (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Heather Thomas (Merrimack, N.H.) were both selected to the LEC Honor Roll. Pope received LEC recognition for the second straight week, while Thomas earned her first career conference accolade.
A 6’1” forward, Pope (left) averaged 24.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.3 steals in PSU’s 2-1 week, shooting a sizzling 73.2 percent from the field. Pope finished with a career-high 35 points Thursday evening in a non-conference win over Bridgewater State, and was one assist shy of a triple double Saturday in an LEC loss at RIC. He was the LEC Player of the Week seven days ago.
A 5’9” forward, Thomas (right) averaged 10.5 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field in PSU’s 1-1 week. She scored the final five points Saturday in PSU’s key LEC win at RIC, hitting a clutch three-pointer with 23 seconds left, the first three-pointer of her career, and sealing the win with two free throws in the closing seconds.
The PSU men completed the first semester at 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Panther women wrapped up the semester at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in LEC action.
