PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University basketball players were recognized by the Little East Conference Monday after turning in strong performances in a pair of home games last week.
Sophomores Laura Kent (Bellingham, Mass) and Bryan Tracy (Manchester, N.H./Central) were named to the LEC Women’s and Men’s Weekly Honor Roll, respectively. Both players received the honor for the first time in their careers after a solid week in games against Keene State College and UMass Boston.
A 6’0” forward, Kent (right) averaged 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in PSU’s 1-1 week while shooting 62.5 percent from the field. She made all four of her shots and finished with eight points and seven rebounds in PSU’s loss to Keene State on Tuesday night, and came back with a career-high 20 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots in Saturday’s victory over UMass Boston.
Kent is fourth on the team and 25th in the LEC in scoring (8.2 points per game) and second on the team and 10th in the league in rebounding (5.7 per game). She also ranks third in the LEC in free throw percentage (77.8) and sixth in blocked shots (21).
A 6’4” forward, Tracy (left) hit two free throws with less than a second left in last Tuesday’s game to clinch an 82-81 PSU victory over Keene State, and he was 6-for-9 from three-point range, including 5-of-7 in the first half, in PSU’s triumph Saturday over UMass Boston. For the week, he averaged 18.0 points while shooting 57 percent from the field and 67 percent from three-point range.
Tracy is leading the LEC in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 46.4 percent (26-of-56). He is also shooting 50.4 percent on all field goal attempts and 77.4 percent from the free throw line.
The Panther basketball teams plays their final two regular season games this week, Tuesday at Southern Maine (women at 5:30, men at 7:30 p.m.) and Saturday at UMass Dartmouth (women at 1:00 p.m., men at 3:00 p.m.) The LEC Tournament begins on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
