The Plymouth State University Chamber Singers*, under the direction of Professor Dan Perkins, will perform with students from Gorham Middle-High School and Berlin High School Tuesday, May 23. The concert will take place at St. Kieran Arts Center in Berlin at 7 p.m.
Earlier in the day, the Chamber Singers will present workshops and performances at both high schools, preparing the students for the collaborative evening performance.
The program will include a wide range of styles and languages, including a Nigerian carol, Betelehemu, with drumming, sung by the combined choirs.
This performance is part of the Chamber Singers’ weeklong study and performance tour through northern New Hampshire and Quebec. This elite 23-member group is an auditioned vocal chamber ensemble of University students majoring primarily in voice performance/pedagogy, music education, theatre and music theatre. The Chamber Singers have performed to critical acclaim throughout the East Coast, Canada, England, South Africa and Italy.
